Country is fecked...

How on earth did these clowns get elected into government? I certainly didn't vote for FF, and most of my peer group have said the same. We live in a democracy and I accept the results of the electorate but I hope we have an opportunity to rethink how this country is run. Maybe Brian Cowen has some fiendishly clever master plan that he's working the kinks out of before springing it on a stunned country in an act of brave and decisive leadership. What? You don't think so? No, neither did I. Let me throw a few words out there....

Incompetent, out of touch, self serving, arrogant....continue ad finitum.

Bugger

Made a bad call in work today. Damn it, hate making silly mistakes.

Is there anything it can't do?

Had so much fun with a Nintendo Wii tonight. It's amazing how the simplest of ideas can turn into something so good. More to come as I get to grips with it.

BSG rocks.

This is some show. Watching the repeat at the moment. It rocks. That is all.

Don't feed after midnight...

...and don't get wet. Yes, I know the quote is from Gremlins but it's kind of applicable to mobile phones. I recently unwittingly introduced my K800i to a lot of rain via a rain jacket pocket that failed miserably at its sole task. Initially I thought it was going to be ok as the phone turns on but most of the buttons have stopped working. Bugger. Luckily I still have my K750i in working order and have temporarily reverted to that while I get the other one repaired. I think I've stored most of the stuff on the memory card so whatever is in the phone memory shouldn't be too much of a loss. I'm not due an upgrade until at least September so I'm stuck with what I have at the moment. No flashy iphones for me, no siree especially at the prices the operators are charging.

The Slug

I was looking at getting a NAS unit for home but the price tags were quite off putting.
So, I had a look around the 'net and discovered that the very inexpensive Linksys NSLU2 unit (nicknamed the Slug) can be hacked with 3rd party firmware. Got one and had a play around with it and it's quite cool. I've installed an iTunes server on the Slug and it works really well. OK, it doesn't have RAID 5 and hot swap disks etc but for the price it's pretty neat. I've been using it to stream the kids movies through XBMC which is great as it means the DVDs can be stored safely away from sticky hands!

World of Tweets

I've recently started playing with Twitter and after an initial feeling of "What on earth would I ever use this for?" it's actually ended up being a lot of fun. Who knew Brent Spiner was so funny? It's a great way of getting an understanding of people that you will never ever meet. Faces that I've seen only on television or a movie screen suddenly become a bit more personal.

Almost a year...

Can't believe it's been almost a year since I've done anything here. Time to rectify that. There. Done.
